Akai Ito 2020
Akai Ito was created during a year of existential crisis, when everything seemed to capsize and turbulent waters had to be swum through. Rather than documenting the events themselves, the work traces the lasting impressions left by this intense period.
Akai Ito refers to a well-known Japanese belief in the red thread of fate: according to the legend, two people are connected by an invisible red thread, symbolically tied around their little fingers.
The series also marks the first complete collaboration between the two artists. It was during the making of Akai Ito that the decision was made to continue working together as equals and to pursue art as a shared practice.
